"From Damascus to Chicago: One Family's Story," a short documentary by Medill students Colleen Cassingham and Alex Lederman made Editor's Pick on The Atlantic: "A dance studio in Chicago is working with young Syrians who have recently resettled to the city. In this short documentary, Fold, Embrace, Expand: From Damascus to Chicago, we meet Akram and Retaj, who are 7 and 10 years old, and follow them in their dance classes and transition to the city. The film also profiles their parents, and touches on the difficulties of beginning a new life far from what was home."

Medill Documentary Alums win Production Grant

Excited to announce that Sam Rong and Lorraine Ma were awarded a grant to complete a feature documentary they worked on in Cambodia back in 2013! Part of this grant involves coaching from seasoned documentary filmmakers including James Longley, Thomas Lennon, and Ruby Yang, who will be executive producing our film. Their film, "Let The Little Children Come To Me," will uncover the global child sex trade and how pedophilia in the West hurts children in the East.
